About this Podcast

HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm thrilled to be joined by Dr. Jane Robinson, an expert in robotics and space technology. She's here to tell us about the exciting new course she's teaching, the "Masterclass Certificate in Space Robotics Innovation". Dr. Robinson, it's great to have you on the show. GUEST: Thanks for having me, I'm looking forward to sharing some insights about this fascinating field. HOST: Could you start by telling us a bit about your personal experiences and insights related to the course topic? GUEST: Of course. I've been working in robotics for over 20 years, with the last decade focused on space applications. It's a challenging yet rewarding area where we're constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible. HOST: That sounds fascinating. And what current industry trends do you think are most relevant to this course? GUEST: There are two key trends right now. First, there's a growing interest in using robotics for satellite servicing, which can extend the lifespan of these expensive assets. Second, we're seeing more AI integration in space robotics, which allows for greater autonomy and decision-making capabilities. HOST: Yes, those are exciting developments indeed. Now, every field has its challenges. What would you say are some of the biggest challenges faced in the field or while learning/teaching this subject? GUEST: One major challenge is the harsh environment of space. Equipment must withstand extreme temperatures, radiation, and vacuum conditions. As for teaching, making complex concepts accessible to beginners while still challenging advanced students can be tricky. HOST: That certainly keeps things interesting. Looking forward, where do you see the future of space robotics heading? GUEST: I believe we'll see more manned-robot teams working together on missions, robots playing a larger role in deep space exploration, and perhaps even the establishment of lunar or martian bases serviced by robotic systems. HOST: That paints a fascinating picture of the future. Before we wrap up, could you tell our listeners how this course can help boost their career prospects in the exciting field of space technology? GUEST: Absolutely. This course provides practical experience and theoretical knowledge in critical areas like autonomous navigation, manipulation systems, and AI integration. By earning a valued certificate, students demonstrate their commitment to this cutting-edge field, enhancing their employability in the space industry. HOST: Dr. Robinson, thank you so much for joining us today and giving us a sneak peek into the "Masterclass Certificate in Space Robotics Innovation". It's been a pleasure and I'm sure our listeners have learned a lot. GUEST: My pleasure, thanks for having me.
